Serve Differently.

The next generation of technologists needs more than encouragement. They need infrastructure.

Mentor Me Collective is powered by people willing to put their skills to work for something larger than themselves. Our volunteers help operate programs, build technology, design experiences, analyze data, lead communities and create the infrastructure that allows thousands of technologists to move forward.

What it means to serve here.

Volunteers here take responsibility for real work and hold it to a high standard. These six values describe how we serve together, and what we ask of everyone who joins.

  • Ownership

    See something. Strengthen it.

  • Excellence

Care deeply about the quality of what you contribute.

  • Service

Use your skills to help scholars and fellow contributors grow.

  • Learning

Stay curious enough to keep getting better.

  • Accountability

Do what you say you will do.

  • Belonging

Build environments where people can contribute fully.

Your skills help others move forward.

  • Operate programs

Help run the learning programs that give scholars structure, community, and accountability as they work toward completion.

  • Build technology

Create the tools and systems that the Collective's programs, scholars, and wider community rely on to keep moving forward.

  • Lead communities

Facilitate cohort sessions and community spaces where every participant can learn alongside peers and contribute fully.

OPT Experience Program

The Collective offers eligible international professionals a structured way to contribute to projects and develop practical professional experience.

You collaborate across functional teams, take on real organizational initiatives, and build work you can show, while strengthening the skills you need for your next full-time opportunity.

Opportunities may be available to eligible individuals. Each participant remains responsible for meeting their own work-authorization requirements.

Real Work Real Growth

Our interns contribute to the programs, technology, and operations that help others grow. Along the way, they develop practical skills, professional confidence, and a clearer sense of what comes next.

  • Growing into leadership

My internship strengthened my cybersecurity, Python, and AI integration skills while giving me the chance to support other interns. Leadership initially made me nervous, but building meaningful connections helped me grow more confident guiding others. I'm carrying that experience into my continued study of computer science and cybersecurity.

  • Growing from beginner to builder

I began with very little coding knowledge and learned through trial and error, feedback, and support from my team. I built an access-checking script and a weekly digest, then learned to test, improve, and document my work. This experience gave me practical skills I can keep developing as I explore my career.

  • Building a professional creative workflow

This internship helped me turn creative ideas into work I could deliver on a deadline. I created 20 testimonial posts, learned to coordinate with a remote team, and gained confidence using new digital tools to solve business challenges. I'm taking those skills with me as I continue college and work toward launching my own business.

Outcome-oriented, not generic praise.

Service here is mutually developmental: volunteers grow real capabilities while strengthening the institution.

  • From scholar to contributor

“Taking part in the [Collective's] Scholarship Programme and later volunteering with Mentor Me Collective gave me invaluable hands-on experience, confidence and skills.”

  • Belonging

I want to be part of a community that cares deeply, that opens doors, and tells people they belong, especially the ones who haven't always heard that.

  • Growth that extends into another community

One of the most meaningful parts of showing up for someone is watching them go on to build something of their own for their own community.
